Quirky, Weird Or Wonderful?

Tuesday, February 15, 2011 by in Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Everyone does things differently! Some would say it’s quirky, some would say weird, but the person itself would say it’s wonderful and the way it should be done!!!

Let me give you a few examples!

1) In our kitchen, we have window grilles… Every morning, I will slide the window grilles open – even though the windows are never shut (unless it rains badly) and air can still freely flow into the kitchen/home…. Grilles make me feel like a caged animal and I feel it obstructs my view…
2) I always put the toilet roll into the toilet roll holder with the tissue rolling backwards… (if you understand what I mean!??!)… If I see the tissue facing forward, I will turn it around!!
3) I like to hang clothes on the line without the peg marks showing on the clothes… I will even redo someone’s attempt if I feel they didn’t do a good job (even though I told them to hang it in the first place!)
4) I will wash my hair everytime rainwater touches it!
5) No one is allowed to sit on my bed unless they are clean and wearing PJs!
6) I crunch hard boiled sweets.. Can’t seem to be able to suck them!

Where Art Thou Valentino?!

Monday, February 14, 2011 by in Combat, Daisy's Thoughts, Family, General Blog Posts, Love And Marriage

This year my Valentino is in camp, serving his reservist!!! He left the house just after 6am, and due to his ‘project’ and his allocated shift, I won’t see him until 2 full days later or even more days later (not including today!!)

Oh well, nevermind, atleast I have my 2 other darlings with me!!!

Like someone said, everyday should be our valentines day… And rightly so! Hupps needs to just work extra hard to buy me gifts every day!! Hehe.. Can’t wait ;)

This year, made some heart cookies… Chloe loved them, but Hupps found it too sweet! Maybe cos he thought he was too sweet?!?! *Vomit* :p

Had my fave sushi/sashimi and cake last night with Hupps whilst the kids slept & mama out at a dinner… Nice! Will be busy whilst Hupps is not around, so will update more as & when.

Are You Mary Or Martha?

Friday, February 11, 2011 by in Daisy's Thoughts, Family, General Blog Posts, Love And Marriage

My Dearest Sister sent me an email recently and it came at a great time because at times things can just get on top of you… Recently, my Hupps is doing his reservist and I feel as though there is a lot to do whenever he is not around! So yeah, great timing!

It is taken from “Heart Reflections Devotional” by Nanette Kinkade and some from my sister’s email!

“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:9,10).

It is a new day, and as the foggy vision of sleepiness clears, the mountain of clothes to be laundered looms into view. Then come the thoughts of floors that need mopping, furniture that needs dusting, and that pie you promised to bake. Not to mention, of course the whole routine required to get the kids off to school. It seems that before your feet ever touch the floor, you’re tired again.

Sometimes it’s the menial tasks of everyday life that can take the most out of women. Perhaps because of its repetitive nature. Or maybe because our efforts are not always noticed. Not even paid. It is here that Satan hopes to defeat us–to distract us from the proper perspective, which (as in all things) is still found in Christ.

For Jesus Christ knows what it is to serve an inattentive and ungrateful world. The King of all creation actually washed His disciples’ feet. He died for people who didn’t even like Him. What an honor, then, it is for us women to be able to serve others in the same capacity as Christ. Whether it’s wiping little noses or cleaning off countertops, the more things we have to do, the more opportunities we have to bring Him honor. Though no one else may see or care, God does. And He receives each effort as a gift of thanks for the incredible sacrifice He gave us–Christ himself.

Father, What a wonderful calling you have given women to be able to serve in so many ways. Free me, Lord, from the sin of comparison and complaining, and instead fill me with a grateful heart that sees the best in every circumstance. Help me to remember that in everything I do–even in the smallest things–I do them for Your glory. Help me, too, to hold steady, knowing that the efforts produced by Your Spirit in me are never in vain.”

“You’ve heard about the story of Martha and Mary right? The two sisters, Mary was sat at Jesus’s feet, listening to him. Martha was busy busy preparing food for Jesus and his 12 disciples; Martha got angry because she didnt have any help at all, and Jesus told Martha off because she was in a mood. Many people use that as an example and say that those who are Martha’s miss out on so much, like spending time with Jesus [what Mary was doing]… thus missing out on a lot of great opportunities. But I’ve heard other things: that it’s ok to be a Martha–the doer. Things do get done, if it wasn’t for Martha, Jesus and his 12 disciples would be hungry for the rest of the night.”

I used to be annoyed that I was the one doing, what I felt, everything…. But looking at the bigger picture, we all have our own roles and yeah – I’ve finally realised that it’s ok to be the ‘Doer’! And like my sister had pointed out to me, I have been a Martha all my life… But actually, I don’t mind it anymore… :) Ofcos, it’s good to be appreciated by others, but not everyone will always appreciate it – but at least I feel happy, so all’s good :) One thing I do need to learn is to have a break and ask for help – something which my husband always tells me! “Take a break.. take a rest!” I suppose, it wouldn’t be me, if I decided to be Mary!

Thought I’d share the email with you all x

Commando Reservist And Kids

Thursday, February 10, 2011 by in Baby, Combat, Daisy's Thoughts, Family, General Blog Posts

It’s 6:45am as I write this… Chloe has been a nightmare all night and morning, leaving Hupps & I sleep deprived… At one point, we had to sleep with her and comfort her, but no luck! Not too sure what is wrong, maybe she got traumatized by the 2 lion dances in the shopping centre (cos she screamed her head off when we had to pass them & she kept saying that she was scared whilst crying!) or maybe she felt insecure because she saw Hupps pack his army stuff & thought we were gonna leave without her?! Anyways, only God knows!

Although, she sleeps in a different room, her cries were disturbing Andre, so he too now, is irritable!

Hupps has left for his Commando Reservist just now and for the next 17 days, it will be a battle at home also, if the kids decide to be rebellious and difficult!! Hupps has told me that he may not be able to come home at nights depending on what training missions he has!! Oh help me God!!!

Oh well, just gotta persevere! Just pray that C&A rest well, eat well and cooperate, so that I too can do the same!!! Also pray that Hupps has a smooth, easy time, eats & rests well so that he can help me on the weekends (if he can come back!), should the kids be non-cooperative!!!

The Year Of The Rabbit…

Monday, February 7, 2011 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, Dreams, Family, General Blog Posts, Health And Well-Being, Holiday, Really Nice Food

This CNY has been great.. Busy and rushed, but great!! Great food and decor…

Some of my immediate family managed to take time out of their holiday plans and spend time with ADCA in Singapore… It’s been awhile since all of us bunked out in one house and just chilled and ate… They all stayed at our house and although, there weren’t enough beds – it was fun to all squeeze in together and sleep wherever there was space! I rather miss those days when we were younger and we all squeezed into each other’s bedrooms, or had sleeping bags laid all over the floors cos we just liked the whole ‘sleep-over’ thing!

Shame that it rained ALOT during their stay though… cos it would have been nice to take them to more places to eat good food!

My youngest sister Ansy was the last to leave Singa and she so reminded me of myself when I first came to Singapore…. She currently lives in Taiwan, and whilst she was here, she had a list of things that she needed to do.. Like have her hair cut, eat a good western meal, buy certain british stuff to bring back with her…. These things seem so trivial but when you live in a country where you don’t understand the language (and they don’t speak much english), where good old british stuff are hard to come by – I tell you, you have serious cravings… I was like that… I longed for jacket potato, a good bangers and mash dish, certain chocolates like Wispa, Fish and chips from a take-away… I still have the cravings but not so badly anymore! In a nice sort of way, I think I’m getting used to Singapore… the weather, the lifestyle, the accents, the foods… I never thought I would really… Because it was such a big culture shock to me! When we relocate back to UK, I think I will miss Singa and have those ‘cravings’ that I once had when I arrived here…

Chloe turned 2 during CNY… I look back and time has flown… I can’t believe how much she has grown…. She’s a proper madam now! And Andre, he’s also growing up so quickly…

Who knows what will happen in the future, But what I do hope is that all will be happy and stay close and in contact x

Happy Chinese New Year to all my family and friends out there!

Hummmm Hummm Hummings….

Friday, January 28, 2011 by in Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

I’ve been humming recently… to tunes.. to mandarin songs actually… Don’t have a clue what the words mean though!! Just loving the tunes… and the fact that I don’t really understand what they are saying means I can freely interpret the song in the way I want, according to the notes and mood of the songs!!!

Some of my faves include:
Chrysanthemum Flower Bed (Ju Hua Tai) ???” by Jay Chou.
Belong (Shu Yu) ?? by ??? Fish Leong.
From the film ‘Shaolin’ – Enlightement by Andy Lau ????????????? -???MV

Cooking For My Chloe…

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts, Really Nice Food

For those who know our little Chloe, she has suffered from food allergies since solids were introduced to her!

And since that day, it has been a headache testing foods and avoiding them… For the foods that trigger her eczema, poor girl has puffy, red, itchy, dry patches on her face, esp the around the eyes….

So far, her avoid foods include cow’s milk (but recent introduction of this in certain products seem to be ok, fingers crossed), egg, peas, plums, citrus fruits, berries (including strawberries, blueberries), kiwi, shellfish/seafood (except fish) and the list goes on!

Cooking for her is a mission cos I’m not particularly brilliant at cooking and now because there’s Andre, there just isn’t enough time nor energy!! I cook her 2 meals every day & because she’s not that adventurous, it’s getting difficult! Also, now that she’s hitting the terrible twos stage, she’s starting to get picky & bored of foods that she once loved! Problem is, ideas are running low because of 1) the lack of foods she can eat, 2) the fact that she doesn’t want to eat this and that! 3) Singapore doesn’t offer many dairy free and egg free alternatives like dairy free cheeses/spreads/yoghurt/cakes etc and egg free biscuits/cakes freely off the shelf! What is in abundance here is soya milk!!!

At times, I feel sorry for her because of the lack of things she can eat and enjoy…

It’s her birthday soon and I have decided to bake her some cupcakes for her birthday… I wanted to order a sugar free, nut free, dairy free and egg free cake but it was difficult to source one and when I did, it was stupidly expensive! For her 1st bday, I made her cake but she couldn’t eat it. This year, she will be able to blow the candle from her cake and then be able to eat it!! Yay!!

Gotta go through more allergy-free recipes!! Some of her faves that she helped to make include spring rolls and gingerbread men!!!

C&A

Monday, January 10, 2011 by in General Blog Posts

C&A sounds like the old department store that used to exist in UK – but nope, I’m not talking about that… C&A refers to my 2 childrens Chloe and Andre!

Today, I was going through some old pics and noticed some similarities between the two children… Check them out!

The Year Just Gone…

Saturday, January 1, 2011 by in Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Wow, 2010 went by far too quickly! So much that I can’t remember specifics!

However, there were a few occasions that do spring to mind, such as the following:
-Our little Chloe is no longer little anymore and she turned one in Feb (not that a one year old is big!!!)
-We celebrate CNY in Phuket with family
-Chloe fractures her leg due to a freak accident on the changing table in March!
-DnAnC return to UK in preparation for Andre
-Anais’ 1st birthday
-DnAnC is officially changed to ADCA with the arrival of Andre in August

Overall, 2010 was a year full of blessings namely my family and friends on both sides of the world, my two beautiful children and last but not least My Fantastic and Amazing Husband… May 2011 bring more blessings :)

October At A Glance…

Thursday, November 11, 2010 by in General Blog Posts

October has just come and gone… and now it is November!

I’m struggling to think what happened in Oct and in order for me to remember, I’m having to look at pics on my laptop or facebook! What on earth!

-We flew back to Singapore
-Settled the two kids into their new routine and surroundings… Only now is it falling into place! But then again, Andre still seems to have his own routine at times!
-Chloe started playgroup (2.5hrs M-F)… We chose this because we wanted her to have some social skills and remove the separation anxiety she has when meeting new people. So far, she has improved… The crying is less; she now walks into the place herself without mummy or daddy having to walk in with her, as she clings for dear life on our leg; she now mingles with other kids and sits with the children (rather than on the teacher’s lap!)… Apparently, she demanded the teacher to hold her!
-Chloe is sort of potty trained now… She can tell us when she wants to ‘poo-poo’ and for the past 3 days she has been able to tell us when she wants to ‘wee-wee’. The first time I put some training pants on her, she surprisingly shouted ‘wee-wee’ and because I didn’t hear her, the wee trickled down her leg.. She cried and kept saying ‘wee-wee’!!! Now after a few accidents and probably more to come, we have been able to make it to the toilet for her to wee (even though she still wears a nappy!)…

That’s all I can think of at the moment! So until then….
