October At A Glance…

Thursday, November 11, 2010 by in General Blog Posts

October has just come and gone… and now it is November!

I’m struggling to think what happened in Oct and in order for me to remember, I’m having to look at pics on my laptop or facebook! What on earth!

-We flew back to Singapore
-Settled the two kids into their new routine and surroundings… Only now is it falling into place! But then again, Andre still seems to have his own routine at times!
-Chloe started playgroup (2.5hrs M-F)… We chose this because we wanted her to have some social skills and remove the separation anxiety she has when meeting new people. So far, she has improved… The crying is less; she now walks into the place herself without mummy or daddy having to walk in with her, as she clings for dear life on our leg; she now mingles with other kids and sits with the children (rather than on the teacher’s lap!)… Apparently, she demanded the teacher to hold her!
-Chloe is sort of potty trained now… She can tell us when she wants to ‘poo-poo’ and for the past 3 days she has been able to tell us when she wants to ‘wee-wee’. The first time I put some training pants on her, she surprisingly shouted ‘wee-wee’ and because I didn’t hear her, the wee trickled down her leg.. She cried and kept saying ‘wee-wee’!!! Now after a few accidents and probably more to come, we have been able to make it to the toilet for her to wee (even though she still wears a nappy!)…

That’s all I can think of at the moment! So until then….

Travie McCoy: Billionaire ft. Bruno Mars

Saturday, September 11, 2010 by in Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Hupps just commented that each time he enters his car and he turns the radio on (Red Dragon FM) – this song seems to be playing!… (along with this song, I think RED Dragon loves it!)

It’s a fab song! Enjoy!

Travie McCoy: Billionaire ft. Bruno Mars

Lyrics:

[Bruno Mars]
I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

[Chorus]
Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I’m a billionaire

[Travis "Travie" McCoy]
Yeah I would have a show like Oprah
I would be the host of, everyday Christmas
Give Travie a wish list
I’d probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
And adopt a bunch of babies that ain’t never had sh-t
Give away a few Mercedes like here lady have this
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
Its been a couple months since I’ve single so
You can call me Travie Claus minus the Ho Ho
Get it, hehe, I’d probably visit where Katrina hit
And damn sure do a lot more than FEMA did
Yeah can’t forget about me stupid
Everywhere I go Imma have my own theme music

[Chorus]
Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I’m a billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I’m a Billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I’m a Billionaire

[Travis "Travie" McCoy]
I’ll be playing basketball with the President
Dunking on his delegates
Then I’ll compliment him on his political etiquette
Toss a couple milli in the air just for the heck of it
But keep the fives, twentys (?) completely separate
And yeah I’ll be in a whole new tax bracket
We in recession but let me take a crack at it
I’ll probably take whatevers left and just split it up
So everybody that I love can have a couple bucks
And not a single tummy around me would know what hungry was
Eating good sleeping soundly
I know we all have a similar dream
Go in your pocket pull out your wallet
And put it in the air and sing

[Bruno Mars]
I wanna be a billionaire so fricking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen
[Chorus]
I wanna be a billionaire so frickin bad!

Farrrrrrrrtttt – And There Goes Another One…

Wednesday, September 8, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

There goes another nappy in the bin!! The amount of poo that comes out of a baby is crazy!!

When you’ve just changed your baby and then within 1 minute you hear the ‘farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrtttttttttttt’ sound – Oh man, I just can’t help but roll my eyes! I’m glad Hupps sees the funny side of it!!

For me, unless he cries, then why change it!?!??! *Evil mother!!* But Hupps is mortified!!! He states: ‘But his 2 balls and penis will be damaged!’ Ummmmm…. Well, if you put it like that – I suppose, his crown jewels should be cleant then!!!

Not much happening on my front, except on strike for all matters except ‘Andre-sitting’…. As for Hupps, he’s busy to the max!! Not much to update about Andre except he feeds, sleeps, poos/wees, cries and occasionally opens his eyes! Born 9lb2 (4.14kg), within 2 days he was 8lb2 (3.72kg)… He was snacking I was told and not feeding off the breast long enough! So, had to do marathon feeds, whilst trying to awaken him!! Missions! @ 13 days old, he was weighed and thank God, he was 8lb8 (3.99kg)… so slowly but surely he’s reaching his birth weight – Yay!

A complete contrast to Chloe, Andre is scrawny/skinnier (although longer and heavier), more aggressive when he wants something but is an extremely slow milk drinker (it usu. takes me 1hr atleast)! Chloe was chubbier (although shorter), milk-guzzler (20mins max) and timid…. What a contrast…

And Now There Were Two!

Friday, September 3, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

It’s been 9 days now… And slowly, I’m getting the hang of it – again! Bit crazy really, you would have thought that I’d be experienced – but let me tell you something, this Andre, is a complete new ball-game!!!

Let’s start from the beginning…

With Chloe ill, and myself having more regular painful contractions – DnA knew we were gonna be in for a busy time! Wed morning/afternoon, I had started to experience more painful contractions – which on my pain scale was a number 4! We saw the midwife, only to be told that it doesn’t appear to be painful enough and that I was only 3 cm dilated, so was sent home! Later on in the day, as the pain increased, I called the midwife and was told that I can’t be in labour as I was still too calm!! I was like ‘what’?!?!?!? Ever thought that I was a calm person?!?!? This was 4pm…

7pm-ish: We were at the emergency doctors at the hospital for Chloe
8pm-ish: Waters break – but still unable to go in – as was told I was still too calm and not in estalished labour!
10pm-ish: Lying in bed and the pain was getting more intense… Told Huppy that I need to go in – at least for an examination or pain relief! I would say pain scale of 5!?!?! Huppy takes charge and calls the midwife unit – so that they don’t have to hear my calm voice and reject me again!!!

Midwife tells us to go in to be examined but states that if I’m not in active labour, I will be sent home!! I was like ‘yeah, whatever!’
I arrive at the unit at 10:30pm and the midwife tells me to pace around the room to make my contractions more stronger!! I tell you what, I should have just faked screamed and pretended I was in agony – I’m sure they would have taken me more seriously!! Anways, I was pacing around this room like an animal and the pain was getting worse…. Atleast she examined – 5cm dilated… Yip, I was in labour!!!

In the delivery suite, I was given the not so helpful gas and air, whilst huppy re-parked his car (as he had parked illegally) (FROM ALLAN-: I did not parked illegally, we were told its ok to park by the 20 mins waiting site if it was urgent, plus my wife was in pain, I can’t park 500 metres away) and the midwife went to make herself a cuppa!!! So alone in this room, the contractions are getting more intense… and the gas and air didn’t seem to be that effective! The midwife returns and notices that things are progressing more quickly than anticipated and comments ‘I hope your husband won’t be too long!!’

Huppy soon returns… and to cut the story short – this delivery was by far worse than Chloes!!! The pain was seriously unbearable and although I had requested for pethidine – I was too late.. So here’s the breakdown of the times!!! (As documented from my maternity notes):

First stage of labour/active labour (i.e. when I was examined to be 5cm!): 1hr 45min
Second stage (i.e. when I was 10cm and baby is born): 10mins
Third stage (begins right after the birth of your baby and ends with the separation and subsequent delivery of the placenta): 5mins

So the whole process was very quick! But intense!

Life with Chloe and Andre are getting more smooth – with Chloe initially wanting more attention, and Andre not feeding so well… But things are settling down now… My family and huppy have been great supports and soon, there’ll be no stopping the DACA group!! (Daze, Allan, Chloe, Andre)!

Will try to keep you all posted on the happenings…

3 days ago, thought I was going into labour!! DnA were ready to set off to the hospital half way through the early hours of the morning, should anything exciting happen… but nothing, just some non-regular contractions… and we’re still waiting for some action!!!

Approaching 38 weeks now…

Daddy Tan: “Dun keep us waiting.. Dun give Munmmy too much pain.. Dun get out in the middle of the night…”

Out & Abouts…

Saturday, July 10, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Wow, 2 weeks have passed and I haven’t updated my blog… So here is a brief summary of what DnC have been doing!

-Been to various appointments regarding my pregnancy… Thank God all is well – my placenta has moved out of the way, so that means, currently a natural delivery…
-I feel super duper uncomfortable now, with aches and pains everywhere! My belly feels quite heavy and I just feel so hot in temperature! Feeling a bit granny-fied at the moment cos of the lack of energy and can’t wait to get back into shape after Andre arrives!!
-Been to Holly and Emily’s 6th Birthday party with mum and Anais… Great fun for the kids, Chloe especially – as she walked away with one of the birthday girls’ helium balloons!!
-Been to my bestie’s Bday BBQ… Had a fab time with the bday girl Beth, great food and great company – fab meeting up with others and not having to look after Chloe! My sis and husband managed to look after her, feed her and put her to bed with no issues! Gotta do this type of thing more before Andre comes along!!
-Had another session with my sis, Claire and Mai without the kids! So great to be able to enjoy lunch without the fuss of kids!! Great company and food…

-Anais and Chloe have developed a bond now and it’s fab… Both learn from each other (good and bad stuff!)… But what is nice, is to see how Chloe ‘looks after’ Anais, treats her as a younger ‘sister’ – cos this sort of shows how Chloe may potentially act when Andre arrives…

-Chloe is more demanding and she ‘tests’ me much more now… Example includes: she ‘fake’ cries, esp. at bedtime, with tears flowing down her cheek non-stop! If she doesn’t stop crying when I leave the room, my sister or mum enters the room and blatantly asks her “Do you want to sleep with me (my sister or mum) or do you want to sleep in your own cot?” She has so far declined to sleep with either of them and takes her pillow, stops crying and lies down.. Mum or sis leaves the room and then she falls asleep… She’s usually snoring away within 5 mins on the baby monitor! What on earth!!! Another example, includes – when Grandad is around, she’ll purposely ignore my requests and just sticks to Grandad! She’ll look at me and have this cheeky grin, as to say – “Mum, you are over-ruled!”

Happenings So Far….

Saturday, June 19, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Since you last read, Hupps has now returned back to Singa for work purposes, to finalise home stuff and to see his new nephew Titus (“Hello Baby Titus, Welcome into this world!)….

When we arrived in UK, we couldn’t find goat’s milk powder, so decided to give Chloe cow’s milk (just to try again – I mean, the cow’s may be different here, in comparison to Singa and it may not give her an allergy!?!??).. Anyways, she ended up having a full blown eczema attack on her face! So off to the doc it was… and eventually found fresh goat’s milk for her to drink… Then a few days before Hupps left, Chloe started coughing – we were not too sure if it was an allergy or a cold or what – as it’s hayfever season here! We Decided to wait for a few days to assess the situation…

The day Hupps flew was one of the most hectic-est (if there’s such a word) day for a long time! Chloe’s cough was getting severe, esp at night, so decided to take her to see the docs (the morning of the flight)… Didn’t think I’d be waiting long as I had arrived at 8am and there were only 4 people in front of me… Hupps stayed at home to finalise stuff… Oh man…. I basically waited until 10am to see the doc… That’s like 30 mins per patient!!! Hupps popped into the surgery to see us briefly, as his coach was 10-something am….

Got home with Chloe and received a letter from the hospital who needed some info urgently (actually, that particular day)!! Tried to access it via home’s internet/computer – no luck, as the internet kept crashing… Tried an internet cafe and still couldn’t retrieve the info.. Oh man! In the end, had to provide whatever info I had and could retrieve to the hospital…. Was on a tight schedule as Dad was cooking cos it was Anais’ 1st birthday that day and he wanted all of us to be at the table for lunch!

Mum drove me to the hospital for the emergency appt, Chloe was with Snk and Anais (bearing in mind that this was officially Chloe’s first day to see them in yonks, she was well behaved!), Dad cooked…. All in all, the lunch started at 3pm!!! Oops…. Then it was off to Victoria Park to play with the kids…

Happy 1st Birthday Anais….
Happy Bday!
Hupps has only left for 3 days and it already feels like ages! And so much has happened…

-Chloe, after observing Anais, can now poo and wee on the adult toilet!! Yay!!! Ofcos, she still can’t tell me herself… but it’s a good start… Bye bye potty!
I'm a big girl now!!
-Chloe can now get off the bed and chairs herself… She sits at the edge, turns her body, lets her legs dangle whilst she holds on and then lets go!
-Chloe is now starting to use ‘resources’ to help her climb up things (bed)… like toys, stools, books…
-Chloe is dribbling again and more fussy – teething issues (bad for mummy!)
-Chloe’s chest infection and eczema is recovering fast
-Chloe’s routine of naps and bedtime are great
-Surprisingly, Chloe doesn’t have a big issue with unfamiliar faces here, compared to in Singa… Here, she doesn’t cause a fuss when being held by someone!!! Which is fab for me!!!

Today is Anais’ bday party, so update you more laters

Good Bye & Hello!

Today we fly back to my home-town of Caaaaaaaaar-diff!!!

There’s still some more last minute things to pack – essentials really and mostly Chloe’s stuff, may I add! Bit crazy really – there’s just SO much to pack for a littl’ ‘en! And when we return back with Andre – there’ll be even more stuff!

Just hoping that the flight will be smooth and Chloe will be a good gal… Anyways, gonna keep this real brief and will update you when I get there – Ofcos, after when DnAnC have settled in! ;)

Not That Bad After All!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Since being pregnant, there has been one thing which has been on my mind….

When baby Andre comes along, the first few months and possibly longer, my time and energy will have to be focussed on him and with him… With the new added responsibility/demands, lack of sleep, breastfeeding etc – I think it would be unfair to Chloe…

Ofcourse, DnA want to spend as much time with Chloe, but with Andre’s demands and Hupps working, it’s difficult… And not to mention, Chloe is 16 months soon and when Andre arrives – she’ll be approaching the terrible twos!!! Hence, more demanding and running wild!

Anyways, to cut the story short – DnA decided it would be good for Chloe to goto a playgroup in the morning, for a few hours – just to drain some energy, be more independent, play and to socialise with other kids… That gives time for me to take a breather! And then when she returns from playgroup, she can have lunch, take a nap and then still have time for family before bedtime…

A few days ago, we headed off in search of some local playgroups for 18 months onwards… Umm…. I tell you what, I had a massive culture shock! It was waiting lists galore!!! Some parents here even register their unborn child so that they can get into the nursery/playgroup/school!!!!

In addition to the waiting lists galore, it was hard to find a toddler playgroup which just caters for a few hours…. Most of them are full days (7am – 7pm), with a few offering half days (7am – 1pm or 1pm – 7pm)!!! Not ideal for us really, considering Chloe wakes up at 7am and sleeps at 7pm!!!

Anyhows, I didn’t really want Chloe to be “in school” so young, as I am a strong believer of letting her live her childhood – just like I did – and I don’t think I ended up too bad!?!??!… She should be playing and being a child… I don’t think she should have to goto enrichment classes so young etc… To be honest, she’ll be studying and working later in life – now is the time to enjoy…. So, I was getting a bit bogged down – as I was finding it hard to find somewhere suitable for her to spend her time….

Today, we managed to find somewhere… it’s directly opposite, it only offers 9:30am – 12 midday… It’s great really! A bit more expensive in terms of per hour, but atleast, like Hupps says, our objective is met! So yeah, now I can sleep better… Only thing is that you’re not allowed to reserve spaces and can only apply once the child hits 18 months – Chloe will be out of the country and will only be back after she is 20months!! Oh well…. Leave it up to the hands of God!!!
