Not That Bad After All!

Wednesday, May 26, 2010 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Since being pregnant, there has been one thing which has been on my mind….

When baby Andre comes along, the first few months and possibly longer, my time and energy will have to be focussed on him and with him… With the new added responsibility/demands, lack of sleep, breastfeeding etc – I think it would be unfair to Chloe…

Ofcourse, DnA want to spend as much time with Chloe, but with Andre’s demands and Hupps working, it’s difficult… And not to mention, Chloe is 16 months soon and when Andre arrives – she’ll be approaching the terrible twos!!! Hence, more demanding and running wild!

Anyways, to cut the story short – DnA decided it would be good for Chloe to goto a playgroup in the morning, for a few hours – just to drain some energy, be more independent, play and to socialise with other kids… That gives time for me to take a breather! And then when she returns from playgroup, she can have lunch, take a nap and then still have time for family before bedtime…

A few days ago, we headed off in search of some local playgroups for 18 months onwards… Umm…. I tell you what, I had a massive culture shock! It was waiting lists galore!!! Some parents here even register their unborn child so that they can get into the nursery/playgroup/school!!!!

In addition to the waiting lists galore, it was hard to find a toddler playgroup which just caters for a few hours…. Most of them are full days (7am – 7pm), with a few offering half days (7am – 1pm or 1pm – 7pm)!!! Not ideal for us really, considering Chloe wakes up at 7am and sleeps at 7pm!!!

Anyhows, I didn’t really want Chloe to be “in school” so young, as I am a strong believer of letting her live her childhood – just like I did – and I don’t think I ended up too bad!?!??!… She should be playing and being a child… I don’t think she should have to goto enrichment classes so young etc… To be honest, she’ll be studying and working later in life – now is the time to enjoy…. So, I was getting a bit bogged down – as I was finding it hard to find somewhere suitable for her to spend her time….

Today, we managed to find somewhere… it’s directly opposite, it only offers 9:30am – 12 midday… It’s great really! A bit more expensive in terms of per hour, but atleast, like Hupps says, our objective is met! So yeah, now I can sleep better… Only thing is that you’re not allowed to reserve spaces and can only apply once the child hits 18 months – Chloe will be out of the country and will only be back after she is 20months!! Oh well…. Leave it up to the hands of God!!!

Happy Mother’s Day!

First of all, I have to thank my mother for bringing me to this world. (I almost didn’t get to see this world, as I was uplanned. lol) She did her best to give my sister and myself, the best that she could ever give and we are really grateful for that. I love you! Ma.

Thank you also to Daisy’s mum for taking great care of Daisy since she was born. I know it was tedious to raise Daisy up, and with so many to take care, you still did a great job with all 6 children, so kudos to you Mummy!

To the mother of our child(ren-to-be),
Thanks for going through the tough pregnancy duration, the sickness that came with it, the extra flesh that has to grow on you, the time and effort nurturing Chloe, and the motherly love you shown even for Andre is beyond words.

Now even though I do not say it everyday, but please know that I am glad that you are the mother of our child(ren-to-be).

Thank you for being such a great mother to our child(ren-to-be). I love you lots. KOL

Today, we decided to take Chloe to Jean Yip to have her haircut!

I know she doesn’t have much hair, so why are we getting rid of what is lacking?!?!? Well, the way her hair grows is rather weird… The underside is short, whilst the outer layer of hair is longer and sticks up! Her hair is still fine and rather light in colour. Well – this is not really an issue, except that the longer layer at the back of her neck is starting to irritate her. During the day, she sweats profusely and she has started to scratch the back of her neck. I can only assume that it’s the hair?!?!?

Well, a rash has started to appear on the back of her neck – so we decided to have that section trimmed. No, we didn’t do anything to the hair at the front – I mean, it’s only now that it’s long enough to clip it up – hence, look more girlie!

Anyways, when she was about to get her hair trimmed, she screamed the place down! Thank goodness, there wasn’t that many customers, but she still managed to attract all the members of staff! Mama had to hold her, whilst the stylist trimmed the hair. Thank God she only cried and didn’t move, or she could have had the risk of the scissors in her neck! Poor child! Whilst she was bawling her eyes out, Mummy was so amused she managed to take a few snap shots!! Hehe!!!

After the hair session, it was off to meet Hupps and we enjoyed some tea at TWG @ Ion… I must say, I loved the scones… Made me think of home… And the smell of the lilies next to me just totally summed up my day – Sweet!!!

p.s. A random thing I noticed today…. Chloe has black hair growing on her left calf area of her leg!!! No where else though… not even on her right leg… And it’s blacker than her head hair!! Random or what?!?!?

Oh My, Hasn’t It Been Ages!!!???

Like the title states – Oh my, it really has been ages since I last updated our blog… So here is a quickish summary of what has been happening so far (if I can remember that is!!)… So pls forgive me, if it turns boring or I miss things out!!

1) Phuket with my family:
Didn’t take much pics cos Ansy (my sis) who is the more proffesional one in this field was snapping away… Still waiting for the pics though! So until then – we’ll just have to wait patiently!

Was a fun, but crazy holiday… Few sicknesses, cries, screams, measles scares from the 2 babies, but overall a relaxing holiday (for me anyways!).

Here’s a pic of the last day of the 2 cousins.. Whilst everyone was busily packing and trying to organise themselves, the 2 cousins were, I think, pretty bored!!!
Boredom!

2) Chloe’s cast is removed:
Yay, after an x-ray, Chloe no longer has to wear the cast anymore… So, goodbye bad-backs (due to carrying her and the cast), plastic bags (in the showers..)…. And hello, independence for Chloe!! She was a bit hesistant to start off with cos I think she was used to all the pampering, but after awhile – she was back to her crawling and crazy/dangerous manouvres!!!

3) Wedding of Ling and Lise:
Fab wedding and lush clothes! Just some snaps for you to see… Didn’t take a camera so no pics of bride and groom! Oops:

4) Baby numero deux (aka Andre) updates:
It’s a boy! and it’s name will be Andre…. Scan showed that I have a low lying placenta (placenta praevia) and the gynae recommended that I travel back to UK earlier…. We had originally booked our tickets for the end of June – but now it’s been changed to the beginning of June… Praying that all will be smooth and it will be a natural delivery rather than under the knife!

Carrying Andre is more of a challenge, compared with that of Chloe… Now with this placenta praevia, there’s not much I am allowed to do (like carrying Chloe, carrying heavy things, exercise…), just in case we set on labour or cause bleeding.. But I suppose, it’s a nice break to just chill out and relax (that’s if I don’t get bored!!!) Other challenges that I face with Andre (and not with Chloe) are the sickness feelings (and when I thought they had disappeared, they are back!), feeling more tired and achy…. I feel bigger with Andre – only cos my clothes ‘tell’ me! I no longer fit into the clothes that I wore up until Chloe’s delivery! And I’m only 23 weeks!! Overall, I have been blessed. Although I may sound as though I am complaining – things with Andre are good!

p.s. the angle of the camera makes me look MUCH bigger!!

5) General:
-Meeting up with frens, relatives, babies just before we set off
-Try to organise our packing
-Entertaining Chloe as she gets more demanding
-Squeeze in as many chinese films (cinema) as possible… I’m a big fan of Donnie Yen at the mo!!
-Trip to Resort World Singapore/casino…. Mama and Hupps tried their luck, whilst Chloe and I chilled out at the hotels and eateries/shops… I must say – it’s not all that! Bit boring really.. Maybe cos it’s not completely finished?!?!?
-Chloe’s first trip to the zoo! It was a rather hot day – and Chloe slept through most of the animals that she recognises! In addition, she was petrified!!!
