Well, this morning, Chloe was abit naughty and I thought I had to discipline her, so I went into the room and started my 1st “Stern Daddy” role.
When she saw me, she smiled at me, little did she know I came in to discipline her. I raised my voice a little and said something like “Chloe is being naughty.” pointing my index finger at her. “No!!” At this point she started to look more serious.
Then I thought she needed some punishment so I slapped her thigh towards the buttocks. (of course not very hard). She seems ok. So i thought I do that again just to make sure that she knows that it is a punishment not for play, so i slapped her same spot again.
Suddenly, her mouth started to shiver.. and she bowed her head down (she was on her belly at this time), and started to cry… And I know that she realised that she is being disciplined, as her cry is very much different from the normal cry. It was the type of cry that is brought to the most intense at the 1st cry. And if I could translate baby language, I would say that she meant, “my Daddy just slapped me, my mummy is ignoring me. Nobody loves me anymore!!”
I felt a sense of pity for Chloe for awhile (inside my heart) but I did not hug her and left her to cry alone. I think that should be the way.
So after crying for about 5 mins, Daisy and I went in to prepare her for her bath. I carried her and hugged her and told her not to be naughty again (which I know for sure that is not going to be the last time I will say it to her).
And after a while, Chloe is back to smiling mode again. I wondered if she learnt.
