Let’s Jiggy Wid It!!

I’ve been playing some music to Chloe recently - classical, nursery rhymes, Red dragon FM love songs - and it seems she likes a good boogie!!

Wiggle those hips!

Take a look at Princess Chloe, taking her bath. She looks comfortable and happy with the cleaning and nice massage, doesn’t she? (click on image to enlarge)

Looking Back In Time…

We can never turn back the pages of time, although we may wish to relive a happy moment, or say bye just one last time… But what we can do is make a record… Maybe a mental record for some.. But for me, it’s a hard copy cos what if one day I lose my memory?!??

I lurve pictures… I lurve looking at them… I would say I’m a bit of an oldie - cos nothing beats flicking thru the pages of an album filled with pictures… I mean, with digital cameras and saving the pics on CD/DVD - it’s just so not the same…

My wedding to my dearest Husband was the most happiest day of my life… and with the memory on video and fab pics in an album, I can’t wait for the day when we go thru these again with the children or even grandchildren.

The next memorable event is the birth of my princess Chloe… It’s already 7 weeks now and she has grown so fast… Her facial features, her expressions, her cute little hands and feet… People always say to me “Savour every moment, cos they grow up so quickly”… I have taken lots of pics, but in addition, I’ve decided to make a mould of Chloe’s hand and foot! They will never be this small again!

It was a bit of a mission doing the “Chloe extremities sculptures!” - I had to make sure she was fast asleep before I could dip her foot/hand in the mixture to make the mould… I was on my own when I thot I would be able to do the sculptures! With Chloe in one hand, the readily mixed mixture in the other - and a time limit before the mixture hardened, I was all geared up! Until, she suddenly woke up!!! With her foot moving in all directions - there was no way that this mould would ever happen!! So quickly, I tried all ways to make her drowsy again - rocking her in my one arm! Sucess! So whilst rocking her, I had to try and dangle her foot in this mixture… I can tell you - absolute mission! I thot it would be a complete disaster - but I was pleasantly surprised with the final result cos it turned out well!!! With the hand sculpture, I waited for my mum to help hold Chloe!!! ;)

And as Huppy would say:
“Time is the only thing that goes in one direction. The moment you say “good” its already “bye”. Money can’t buy time, in fact money can eat away your time. Find the solution to create more time, to spend with your beloved, ‘cos time only goes one direction!”

Luv Ya Both!

Happy Mother’s Day!

In My Eyes…

Hello everyone!!! My first posting and it’s so exciting! Since I entered this humungous world - there’s so much out there to explore, It’s tiring me out!!!

Recently, I was invited to my first burfday party - Isabelle’s 4th B’day! The kiddies were much bigger and the food looked alien to me - weird shapes and colours! But everyone seemed to be munching away - they looked as though they enjoyed it! Me, I’ll stick to my milk thank you! I didn’t do very much except stay well close to mummy - there were so many new faces, so many people talking to me, I was so scared that they would take me away, I kept quiet!

My first burfday party!

I tried to join in with blowing the candles - but I was too far away and didn’t have enough breath.. But luckily I managed to squeeze in the candle-blowing pic! Phew!

Also, one day when I woke up, I had new frens… They don’t talk very much but when you squeeze them or touch them, they make noises! They are so colourful too - I lurve playing with them… I even go out with them…

My new frens
All mine...

I’ve even been out shopping and visiting mummy’s frens… Look at this fab chair!

I want one of these!

The Great Depression And The Current Depression

Saturday, March 21, 2009 by Allan in General Blog Posts

great depressionThe Great Depression was a worldwide economic downturn that had devastating effects in virtually every country, rich or poor. It is by far the worst ever global economic crisis. It started in Oct 1929, and for many countries, it ended earliest as 5 years later, but for some as late as 10+ years later. So what exactly is The Great Depression? And what were its impacts? What are the similarities of what we are facing today?

So what happened that resulted this economic downturn in 1929?

“The causes of the Great Depression are still a matter of active debate among economists till today. The specific economic events that took place during the Great Depression have been studied thoroughly:
i) a deflation in asset and commodity prices,
ii) dramatic drops in demand and credit,
iii) disruption of trade
ultimately resulting in widespread poverty and unemployment.”

“Most economists believe that deflation is a problem in a modern economy because of the danger of a deflationary spiral. Deflation is also linked with recessions and with the Great Depression. Additionally, deflation also prevents monetary policy from stabilizing the economy because of a mechanism called the liquidity trap.”

So deflation if not controlled properly, will continue to worsen within its own vicious cycle.

One of the theory that stated what could have been the cause of the Great Depression is the
Austrian School ExplanationS it reads:

… the Great Depression was the inevitable outcome of the easy credit policies of the Federal Reserve during the 1920s. Since its enactment in 1913, the Federal Reserve had served as the central bank of the United States. The Federal reserve effectively regulated the amount of credit private banks could issue by providing overnight loans and strict reserve requirements.

Do you see some familiar happening?

I ask for forgiveness if this post is a bit gloomy and pessimistic, but I do feel that it is always good to be reminded, so here it is. And please do not take my personal opinion too lightly or too seriously. Be your own judge.

Today I am very happy to attend my best friend, Moses’ wedding. It was a very different wedding reception and dinner compared to the normal Singapore Chinese wedding, but it is very similar to DnA’s UK wedding.

With about 70 guests at a cosy and pampering private restaurant called Friends @ Jelita. The bride and groom had the opportunity to mingle around the guests and the solemnisation was done at the restaurant in full, close view of everyone, which made it even more special for all guests.

I was honoured to give a speech at their wedding, and after spending hours the day before I managed to squeeze a short speech draft for the actual thing. And in my speech I gave them 3 points which I would like to emphasize one of the points on this blog.

Love One Another. Say it and do it. I try to say I love you to my wife whenever I remember to even if it means a few times daily via SMS, MSN or face to face. I kiss my wife as much as I can whenever I want to, even if she has got a sore throat. Display your affections let it come out naturally and don't hide it. I do these because I do not know when will it be the last time I would be doing those loving stuff, and because I do not know when is my last day of loving her, I want to treat it like its the 1st day that we started to love each other, honeymoon period every day. I think that it work well so far for me.

Flash of GeniusI was on the flight home yesterday when I saw this great movie, it was called “Flash Of Genius“.

It is based on a true life story about Robert Kearns, an inventor who invented something that is so vital to the automobile industry since 1969 and right up till today. He thought his family and his life would change for the better but little did he know that he will get in some nasty litigations with the big corporations who tried to take advantage of his invention.

I kind of like this film because I see some part of me in this person. But I hope what happened to him and his family will never come upon me and my family.

All in all, I find this movie very watchable, even though some part might be a bit draggy. It is one of the movies which I think is worth watching to learn something out of it. I like all sorts of based on true story movies.

Well I was thinking you might want to watch Flash Of Genius Part 1.

1 Month Old…

Today, Chloe is 1 month old… And traditionally, this marks a big step for her because in ancient times, China experienced high infant mortality rates, and babies who reached the one month mark were likely to survive…!
The morning of...
It was as if she knew it was her 1 month b’day - she woke up smiling and there were no cries!!! I couldn’t resist and just kept snapping away on my camera! I think paparazzi mum was too much for her in the end cos she started to get a bit temperamental!!
Paparazzi mum in action
We got her bathed and dressed and ready for dinner with the grandparents…
Smelling sweet!!!
It must have been a special occasion cos Grandpa (my dad) offered to cook!!! We did a few traditional stuff but not entirely sure what it means!! Things like Grandma Alice giving chloe a gold pendant and chain, the cutting of the strands of hair in the front and back of her head, then putting these in red packets… Chloe receiving red packets and then ‘eating’ with us at the dinner table (Well, not literally eating! We just let her ‘taste’ the food by dipping a spoon in certain saucy dishes and then putting it on her lips!)
Watch the ears!!
I'm a big girl now!
Nothing really major happening today - just a relaxing day… The celebration of her 1 month is this saturday - so will post more pics!
