If I Were The Finance Minister, What Would I Do

Yesterday was Singapore’s budget day, and this year it was probably more important to watch it live on TV (I think the tv ratings for this year’s budget day is probably higher than The Little Nonya’s finale). Anyways, the finance minister and various prominent figures of the society was discussing about the current situation that Singapore is facing, what the government has come up with to deal with the worst ever recession in Singapore’s history etc..
And quite frankly, their solutions might not make lots of people very happy and satisfied, but from a bigger vantage point, you can actually see why they are focusing on helping the businesses and the very low income households. So I am surprised to see that one of the Singapore gossip newspapers is actually trying to rub salt on the general population’s wound and said: What is going to happen to the commoners?
I mean, seriously, the govt is going to give income tax rebates, Workfare Income Supplement, GST Rebates and etc, so the commoners are benefitting too. Anyways to understand why the govt chose to do what they did, go to www.singaporebudget.gov.sg and read about it.
And I thought this game is rather cool and to give commoners a chance to dictate what they so often talked about if they are the government what they would do, here is a chance to talk the talk and walk the walk… Have a go government-complainers!!
