Was It My First Kick/Punch?

Sunday, October 5, 2008 by in Baby, Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

Huppy is having his afternoon nap cos of his late game play with the boys last night… So, I decided to join him… Just to lay and rest my eyes…

I slept on my left side, with my little bump raised by a small pillow. The house was empty and all was quiet… All of a sudden I felt a tummy twitch… I’ve heard and read that you should start feeling your baby kick between 16-22 weeks.. But so far, me at 21.5 weeks, I haven’t felt a thing – or maybe I just haven’t noticed! (How Big Is A Fetus At 20 Weeks)

Well, I thought nothing of it and carried on resting.. Another tummy twitch! Well, I then thought – “Oh, maybe it’s my first kick/punch?” So I put my hand on my belly and started to monitor the twitches!!! It’s nothing major… It feels like your muscle twitching (but less obvious – if you get what I mean?!)… Problem is – I’m not sure if it was my first kick/punch cos today I’ve been having a bit of tummy/toilet problems cos I think I ate something wrong… so it could be a coincidence and my intestines going crazy, hence, the tummy movements!

Oh well, we’ll see!

Today, I went for my 5 month detailed scan…. A routine ultrasound scan, ended up taking longer than usual because our little baby wouldn’t turn for the machine and cameras!!! It’s face was embedded face-down in my tummy! No matter if I coughed, turned to the side – it just wouldn’t move!! I thought it stopped moving at one point – forgetting the fact that the monitor showed a heartbeat!! Phew!!! Well, I was then told to go for a 30 min walk, in the hope that the baby would budge – so that the final facial and head measurements could be taken. When I returned back – yippee, it had moved!

After that it was wait more cos we had missed our following appointment due to the scan taking longer than normal! So they tried to fit us in the next available appointment, so that we could discuss the results with the gynae. 2 hours later – results confirmed that major organs looked normal and we were gonna expect a girl, and that she should be of medium size if she carries on growing at the rate she does now (whatever medium size means?!?!?) My concerns were, “So she’ll slide out?!?!” Gynae said, “If at this rate – should be!!” – I so hope so!!!

Our original decided names were:
Boy: Andre, Benedict
Girl: Chloe, Lily, Jasmine

So the decided name of our expected arrival of our princess, is Chloe… Maybe we’ll use a middle name too – Chloe Lily.. But we will confirm this closer to the time!

Looks like I have a promotion!!! For those who know me well… I call myself Princess… Now it’ll be Queen!!!! ;)

Attack Of The Killer Ants!

Thursday, October 2, 2008 by in Daisy's Thoughts, General Blog Posts

When I see any insects – whether it be a fly, wasp, cockroach, beetle, house lizard, spider or simply anything gross like that – my automatic response would be to literally go crazy and shout for help! Generally, I would shout out the creature’s name and eventually Huppy or Mama would come to my rescue and terminate it or move it to a safer place (which is outside our home!). I say “eventually come to my rescue” because I do believe that their response could be a bit quicker and they could be a bit more enthusiastic!!!

However, one of the things that really do get their attention and their response on high alert are ants….! And today, this scene really did make me chuckle!

Exterminators in action!!!

The ants have both of their full attentions… Out comes their detective hats to find out where the ants come from, out comes the killer traps and killer sprays!! To be honest, ants may be gross, but they don’t really scare me that much compared to other stuff. Maybe it’s because I know I have two people in my household that are even more crazy about them than I am!!! Phew, one less creature to worry about!
