It’s been awhile since I last recorded our happenings… We’ve been really busy as of late… Actually, correction – really busy and tired!!! Anyways, as things start to wind down, I try to recall what exactly DnA have been up to!
1) Bean = beansprout? experiment:
After obtaining our red, green, yellow and black beans, DnA did four experiments using the same no. of beans for each and observed them every day for 1 week. The experiments were as follows:
a) Beans placed on damp cotton wool with no light
b) Beans placed on damp cottom wool with light
c) Beans immersed fully in water with light
d) Beans partially immersed in water with light
Results:
a) Beans placed on damp cotton wool with no light—-
-Second best test conditions
-Yellow beans germinated within 1 day with long growth
-Green beans germinated within 3 days but with very small growth
-Black beans germinated within 4 days but shrivelled up and died!
-Red beans – no growth
b) Beans placed on damp cottom wool with light—-
-Third best conditions!
-Germination of beans same as (a)
c) Beans immersed fully in water with light—-
-No germination
d) Beans partially immersed in water with light—-
-Best test conditions!
-Yellow beans germinated with the longest growth compared to the other test conditions
-Germination of beans same as (a)
Summary of results:
-Well, nothing to conclude except all of them germinate except the red bean! Whether they germinate into beansprouts – who knows!!! Waste of time? Ummm… I think so!
