Day 1: Touring

Waking up to the sounds of roosters was a first for me… Still sleepy eyed – I carried on sleeping with the background rooster calling! Huppy just carried on sleeping, not even twitching!

Waking up after a short while later – we opened our curtains to find a pool directly below our balcony – NICE!!! We then got ready to explore! Had breakky in the hotel… Me – English breakky and Huppy – American breakky!

After that we ventured onto the streets to the jetty and the beach… Went to change some money and then hired a moped to get around and about!! Was a bit reluctant as wasnt too sure of Huppy’s skills – but he had no probs!!!

After several rounds of brief riding, Huppy gave the thumbs up and said “Hop on, I’m safe!!!” We then rode to the local shooting range to try some firearms! Huppy shot 12 rounds of .45 and 12 rounds from an AK47!! Massive scary gun! Huppy suggested that I had a go as there were no recoil… NOWAY HOSAY!!!

After that it was off to the local supermarket – Tesco!!! But not just any Tesco – it’s Tesco Lotus! Ate some KFC, Dunky Doughnuts, Tom Yum Gung and did some essential shopping… On our return to our moped – the seat was frying!!! Trying to cool it by tipping bottled water on the seat – you could see the sizzle!!

Returned to the hotel to drop off the goods and then went out on our journeys to Big Buddha… Not sure if we were meant to take off our shoes – but no one else did and there were no signs so we just followed the crowd!

Then we went go-karting… Hupps passed me about 5 times!!! but I blame my car – acceleration pedal was not working properly!!!??? Fun but scary!

On our way back to the hotel we stopped at the Bandara Hotel to get some pampering done… A private outdoor pool for just both of us – hydrotherapy… then an exfoliating scrub each…. We have yet to experience it as we were told to return in 1 hour…. Hence, that is why we are on the internet!!! Tell you about it all later and pics to follow soon!!! Watch this space!
