Sentosa’s Songs of the Sea…

Monday, October 29, 2007 by Daisy in General Blog Posts

Today we just thought we would visit the Army museum…. So after checking the webiste - it’s Monday and it’s closed!!!

So, another suggestion - Singapore Discovery Centre? It’s Monday and its closed!!!

Ok then, let’s go to VivoCity! Now, that can’t be closed on Mon!!! So off we went… Nothing really much to buy - just walk walk, talk talk and look look.

Vivo Vivo Vivo City!!

After strolling along the shopping mall and chilling out over coffee, we decided to go to Sentosa and watch the Songs of the Sea…

Imagine cool sea breezes, lapping waves, the feel of soft sand beneath your bare feet, and a star-studded night sky…. Well, sort of! Jets of water, bright lasers, bursts of fire and foot-tapping music… It was, I suppose, quite nice. Fantastic? Ummmm, maybe not. But hey, once in a lifetime.

For The Love Of Shoes….

Monday, October 29, 2007 by Daisy in General Blog Posts

Or in my case, the lack of it!

Why is it so difficult in this side of the world to buy a decent pair of shoes… Note - not sandals, but closed toe, comfy, trendy pair of shoes, in the correct size?!?!?! I believe that shoes must be comfortable - as your feet are extremely impt - you stand up all day on them, they support your body posture…. If your feet hurt - then it affects your whole body and emotions….

Here in Singa - I own a lot of sandals, all different types and styles…

However, recently, I have started looking for some flat trendy comfy closed-toe shoes, with a level of waterproof characteristics.. Not too fussed but like pump shoes? Or court shoes etc….

I love shoes, actually boots! The amount I have in UK is appauling as I often have to give them to charity shops due to the amount of stock!… I also never used to own that many sandals as the weather never warranted the existance, but as I am living here in this hot climate - I found my styles shifting from waterproof, closed-toe shoes/boots to sandals….

For some unknown reason, I never brought any closed-toe flat shoes with me and all of a sudden I wanted to own a pair of this type of shoes… so off I went searching for the perfect pair!

I went to a few shops and realised something… There are not enough designs, styles, comfy closed-toe flat shoes! And not just that… the sizes generally stop at 38 - 39 European size!!! I am a size 6 - 6.5 in UK, and have slighter wider feet than average, depending on the style of shoe!

Listen to this! I went into a Scholl shop (one of my fav brands in UK as they cater for wider feet!) and asked whether they had this particular shoe in a size 39 or 40…
Shop assistant: “Are you buying for your mum?”
I was like: “No, actually, it’s for myself!!!”
Shop assistant: “Sorry, the largest size we stock is 38 in this style.”
Me: “Do you have any closed toe flat shoes in a size 40?
Shop assistant: “Sorry, the largest size we stock in ALL our styles is 38! But we have sandals in larger sizes!”

So, for the next few days I didn’t even bother looking for the styles of shoes etc… I would just go into the shoe store and say “What closed-toe flat shoes do you have in a size 40?”!!! Crazy right?!!?!?! Totally in my opinion! I have never had this problem EVER in UK!!!

Well, there wasnt much choice.. but I did manage to find a pair in Charles and Keith…. At Last!!!! I found a pair!!!

Not sure if its comfy long-term though!!! Well, for the time being until I go HK!!!

For the shoe designers out there - how about designing some shoes to cater for those with larger, wider feet?!?!?!

As The Statement Says - Don’t Try This At Home! Literally!!!

Sunday, October 28, 2007 by Daisy in General Blog Posts

Ever woken up in a blur? Not enough sleep? Even when you try and blink - whatever you see thru those eyes of yours are still mystified and blurry? Well, today was a classic example of blurry eye syndrome! Today I had to be somewhere at an early time.. so the alarm went off at 6am….

After washing my face - (& forgetting to brush my teeth!) I returned to my bedroom to finish off my facial cleansing routine. I went to grab a facial roll-on topical preparation - as I normally would…. Then for some unknown reason, I used it as if it were a roll-on deodorant!!! Do you know something? It took me a few seconds to register what exactly I was doing!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!

Quick-time grabbed some tissue to wipe it off my armpit.. then didnt know whether to salvage the facial roll-on product!!! Decided to chuck it away - thank goodness I got lots and they didnt cost that much - cos I can assure you - the tissue would have gone straight for the product and not my armpit!!!

“Don’t try this at home!!!”

What A Killer!!!

Saturday, October 27, 2007 by Daisy in General Blog Posts

Tonight, I am so so so tired… Actually, we ALL are! I havent been this tired for a long time!

But putting that aside - today, I had a “killer”!!!! Not literally a killer!!!

Ever used a glue gun? Maybe in school? Maybe at work? Well, today some people had to use glue guns… Not me though.. However, I still managed to stick both of my fingers together!!! Someone had used the glue gun on a box and I happened to hold the box and voila!!! Jackpot!!! That burning sensation.. The pain of pulling both your fingers apart…. I quick time ran to the cold tap…. End result? Blisters and pain…. Ouch….

Although the guy apologised…. What a bad day to happen and so early in the morning - even before we officially started working!!!… My most useful right-hand 2nd and 3rd fingers…. no plasters around…. Well, managed to get thru the day - off to bed now - Night xxx

The After-Effects of the Chalet Weekend 19-21 Oct…

Sunday, October 21, 2007 by Daisy in General Blog Posts

Oh my! My throat hurts; I have pimples on my face; my eyes are swollen with black circles and my whole body is aching!!! These are the after-effects of the chalet weekend! And oh yeah, not forgetting - I now know how to play bridge!!!

I am writing this blog one day after we arrived home and after sleeping for about 13 hours…!!!

The chalet we booked was in Changi…. literally next door to the haunted and empty Changi hospital! And nope we didnt venture into the grounds - although some of them wanted to!!!

On Fri - not many people were available to attend… Only five of us.. However, had a fab time - chatting and then all of them teaching me how to play bridge… Was a bit confusing at the beginning but now I get the hang of it… played until 4am in the morning… For those who know me - I normally start nodding off at 10pm… so 4am is a record!!

Sat: This was the day for the main event… BBQ and alcohol!!! Need I say more!? Another early morning - slept at 3am!!!

Sun: Check-out was at 10am…. DnA slept thru the alarm at 8:30am and woke up at 9:30am - had to drag ourself out of bed!!! oops!!!

BBQing
